Lib Dem President supports local campaigner in Old Town8.40.00pm GMT Tue 19th Jan 2010
Lib Dem President Baroness Ros Scott gave her keen support to the Swindon Lib Dems on her recent visit to Old Town. Hosted by Shirley Burnham, local campaigner and newly selected council candidate for the Lib Dems, Baroness Scott visited the Old Town Library and local businesses during her time in the area. (see picture right) "I'm so pleased to hear about the Lib Dems support for these vital local services," commented Ros. "We have to do everything we can tto protect our communities from the cuts in services proposed by councils like Tory-led Swindon."
Local Councillor Dave Wood (Lib Dem Eastcott) was also on hand to show the Party President some of his area, including Kingshill where Swindon Council have failed to install a long overdue crossing for local school children. She also gave her support to the Lib Dem campaign to oppose the massive increase in resident's parking charges in the area.
